Performing Hysteria
12’ / 3-Channel Video / 2016

Performing Hysteria is a three-channel video following three actors as they recite a scripted account of the different emotional and bodily techniques they use to induce a state of hysteria.

Each actor takes a different approach, from evoking personal memories and imagining future scenarios to physically engaging with the body and questioning the ethics of drawing upon particular memories or projections. Through these acts of internal retelling, the uncanny emerges as they engage in a re-performance of the self.
